Agespots and its home remedies

Age spots are flat brown spots that can appear anywhere on the body as its ages. They are also called liver spots. Most age spots appear on the face, neck, and hands. These brown spots are harmless, but they can be a sign of more serious underlying problems. They are the result of a buildup of wastes known as lipofusin accumulation, a by-product of free radical damage in skin cells. These spots are actually signs that the cells are full of the type of accumulated wastes that slowly destroy the body’s cells, including brain and liver cells. In other words, they are a surface sign of free radical intoxication of the body that may affect many internal structures as well, including the heart muscle and the retina.
Factors leading to the formation of age spots include poor diet, lack of exercise, smoking, poor liver function, the ingestion of oxidized oils over a period of time, and , above all, excessive sun exposure. Exposure to the sun causes the development of free radicals that may damage the skin. Age spots are not remedied on the outside of the body since they originate on the inside of the body. Liver cleanse and proper colon cleanse will in time eliminate age spots from where they formed.
Age spots can appear as early as age 40. Since age spots are caused by sun exposure, the best way to prevent age spots is by using sunscreen. Before going out into the sun, apply a sunscreen with an SPF (sun protection factor) of at least 15. Also, use products like body lotions and face moisturizers that contain sunscreen. Diet also plays an important role in fading age spots. Eat a well balanced healthy diet especially containing fresh fruits and vegetables. Lastly drink plenty of water.

 HOME REMEDIES

  • The acid in garlic can also result in the shedding of outer layers of skin; rub fresh garlic directly on your age spots each night, and pigmentation should start to even out in six to eight weeks
  • Using the ancient Chinese herb gotu kola. Mix 1/8 teaspoon of powdered herb into a cup of herbal tea or add it to plain hot water along with 1/8 teaspoon of ginseng and a pinch of cayenne. This remedy should clear the spots in a few days.
  • Take fresh or canned chick peas (garbanzo beans), mash about 1/3 cupful and add a little water. Smear this paste on the spots and leave it there until it dries.
  • Aloe Vera juice or gel is useful in fading the age spots, rub the juice or gel directly on the affected areas twice a day, and leave it on the skin for at least 45 minutes each time.
  •  A concoction of juice of lime, radish, rosemary oil and vinegar is prepared and applied over the spot. This not only cleans the skin but also brightens it up.
Dab fresh lemon juice directly onto the spots twice daily. Leave the juice on the skin for at least 30 minutes and then it gently.
  • Take two-three tsp of buttermilk and fresh tomato paste (one tsp), mix them well and apply on age spots, allow it to dry for 10-15 minutes and then clean it using cold water.
  • Mix one teaspoon grated horseradish root, 1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice, 1/2 teaspoon vinegar, and 3 drops rosemary essential oil. Dab onto your age spots with a cotton ball once or twice a day (less if you have sensitive skin); it will exfoliate the top layer of skin and your spot should lighten.
  • Chop a tomato into two and rub the halves vigorously over the spots to make them appear lighter and cleaner.
  • Dab buttermilk on the spots areas. Milk, buttermilk, and yogurt are beneficial to the skin all ingredients in as they contain lactic acid.
  • Mix an equal quantity of turmeric and sesame seeds. Grind in water and apply to the face.
  • Dissolve some sugar in the juice of one lemon. Apply mixture to each freckle with a brush.
  • Rub Castor Oil directly on the affected skin areas or mix with orange juice once in the morning and once in the evening. This should help fade the spots within a month.
  • Apply Apple Cider Vinegar mixed with onion juice directly to the skin; it helps in getting rid of age spots and sun spots.
  • Bilberry herb slows some of the aging processes and acts as an antioxidant. Take 4-8 oz. of fresh berries, 80-160 mg of bilberry extract (25% anthocyanidin), or 20-40 mg anthocyanosides daily.
  • Vitamin E oil or cod liver oil will reduce coloration when applied to affected areas daily.
  • Mix sandalwood powder and few drops of rose water and apply to the effected area and allow it to dry for 15-20 minutes and then wash it gently
  • Take selenium and the herbs ginseng, dandelion, liquorice, gotu kola, and sarsaparilla in capsule or tea form. They are useful in treating age spots.

Apply another layer to the face and neck and wait about 10 minutes. Repeat it and then wash properly. After that apply a lightening solution (a skin care product containing hydroquinone, lemon juice, etc.) only on age spots.
  • Finely chop up an onion, extract its juice, and try applying it to sun spots. The acidity of the onion juice can induce skin peeling, which has a bleaching effect.
  • Heat honey slightly and apply to face, tap face gently with your fingers. Wash honey off with warm water then rinse with cool water. Stir in a little quantity of wheat germ into the honey before applying.
  • Apply parsley juice mixed with equal amounts of lemon juice, orange juice, and red currant juice under your favorite cream will help you keep your freckles invisible.
